Waiting for a surgery: your child or baby?

How distressing is when you are waiting for your child or baby surgery! I am sure all parents have the same sensation.

Elective surgery or emergency, all of them make the parents, friends and relatives be worried, nervous, anxious and stressed.

But how could we deal with it?

  • Religion or faith: During the surgery some people use their religions to relax. So, they try to keep silently, take their moment and pray, meditate or practice their religion.
  • Talk: Other people need to talk to unburden the stressful situation. They call everyone, use social media, messages, emails, etc.
  • Doing Crafts: Another way to try to get relaxed is to do crafts while you wait the procedure.
  • Play: Some people likes to play in the mobile, tablet or computer to relax.
  • Work: The best way of get relaxed during the surgery for some people is trying to think about something else and work.
  • Walk: Another way of relaxing is walking. Some people prefers to walk around the hospital to try to relax a little bit.
  • Read: another technic that can be used is reading books, news, about amenities…
  • Sleep: some try to sleep in the waiting area.
  • Eat: some prefer to take a coffee or tea and eat something to relax.
  • Movie: another strategy to get relaxed is to watch a movie that you like.

As you can see, there are lots of alternatives that you can use to try to relax during your child procedure or surgery. There is no right or wrong. The important is that it works for you and helps you to deal better with the situation. You can also try to use more than one.
